Living in El Rengle, Mataró's new neighbourhood by the sea
El Rengle is the new-build seafront neighbourhood of Mataró, between TecnoCampus and Port de Mataró. From here, Ponent beach is about an 8-minute walk, the Rodalies R1 station about 18 minutes, and Barcelona-Plaça de Catalunya 41–43 minutes by train.

The sea, a stroll away
The neighbourhood has been built along the new seafront promenade, and that shapes everyday life: the beach, the marina and the parks are all within walking distance, no car needed.
- Parc de Mar, 100–400 m away: a 750 m linear park by the sea with play areas, sports courts, a dune viewpoint and an amphitheatre.
- Platja de Ponent, next to the marina: 0.5 km, about an 8-minute walk.
- Port de Mataró, with more than 1,000 berths, restaurants and a Blue Flag: 0.75 km, about a 12-minute walk.
- Platja del Varador, with a Blue Flag and an accessible bathing area, 1.5 km away; a seafront promenade of about 6 km runs along the town's coast.
- Parc de la Vil·la Romana de Torre Llauder, re-landscaped and reopened in June 2026, 0.3 km away.
Schools, secondary schools and university
There is no school inside El Rengle yet: the nearest are in the neighbouring districts (Pla d'en Boet, Peramàs, Cerdanyola), 0.7–1.3 km away. Within 2 km there are state schools, state-subsidised (concertada) schools and a university.
- State nursery: Llar d'infants Tabalet (Ronda de Francesc Macià 119), 1.0 km away.
- State infant and primary schools: Escola Torre Llauder, 0.7 km (about an 11-minute walk), and Escola Camí del Mig, 1.0 km.
- State secondary (ESO and Bachillerato): Institut Laia l'Arquera, 0.8 km (about an 11-minute walk).
- State-subsidised schools: Divina Providència (0.9 km), Escola Pia de Mataró – Santa Anna (1.35 km, from infant school to Bachillerato and vocational training) and Maristes Valldemia (1.9 km).
- International schools: there are none in Mataró; the nearest are the International School of Maresme (British curriculum, Canet de Mar, 14.8 km) and Hamelin International School (International Baccalaureate, Montgat, 13.5 km).
- University: TecnoCampus Mataró-Maresme, affiliated to Universitat Pompeu Fabra, is on the same avenue as Amura, about a 4-minute walk. It has about 5,000 students and degrees in business (Business Administration, also taught in English), technology and health.
Health: GP centre, urgent care and two hospitals
Primary care and urgent care are a few minutes away, with a private hospital a 10-minute walk away and the public hospital 8 minutes by car.

Train, bus and car: Barcelona in 41–43 minutes by train
Mataró is on the Rodalies R1 line, with frequent trains to Barcelona, and El Rengle has a junction with the C-32 motorway about 2 km away. You can work in Barcelona and live by the sea without depending on a car.
- Train: Mataró station is 1.0 km away (about 18 minutes on foot or 5 by car). To Barcelona-Plaça de Catalunya, 41–43 minutes; to Sants, 46–48. On weekdays, a train every 7–10 minutes from 6 to 9 am and every 15 minutes mid-morning.
- Airport by train: R1 to Sants and R2 Nord to the airport, about 1 h 10 min in total.
- Bus: Mataró Bus line L3 has stopped in El Rengle since February 2026; the Porta Laietana–TecnoCampus intercity stop is about a 4-minute walk away, with the e11.1 express line to Barcelona.
- By car, without traffic: Barcelona (Plaça de Catalunya) about 31 minutes, El Prat airport 41–44 minutes and Girona about 1 hour.
Shops, markets and sport
Everyday errands are done on foot: there is a supermarket inside the neighbourhood and municipal markets just over a kilometre away.
- Supermarkets: Mercadona in El Rengle (0.3 km, about a 6-minute walk), ALDI (0.4 km) and Consum (0.6 km).
- Municipal markets of Plaça de Cuba (1.15 km) and Plaça Gran, in a modernista building by Puig i Cadafalch (1.7 km), Tuesday to Saturday; a weekly Saturday market in Pla d'en Boet (0.5 km).
- Sport: Poliesportiu Eusebi Millán sports centre (0.6 km), a skatepark (0.3 km) and the Can Xalant football pitches (0.5 km).
- Mataró Parc shopping centre (Alcampo, Kinepolis cinemas and more), about 8 minutes by car.
Amura, in El Rengle
Amura is a building of 38 homes with terraces and sea views at Av. d'Ernest Lluch 11-23, 200 m from the sea and on the same avenue as TecnoCampus. 22 are left, all with 3 bedrooms, from €609,000 + VAT, with handover planned for 2028.
